Officers with the Petaluma Police Department responded Wednesday at 10:32 p.m. to the area of 4th and C streets on a report of an assault victim who was bleeding heavily from his ear.
The victim reported a man had punched him in the face and had bitten off part of his ear.
Police said the victim was acutely intoxicated at the time of the report and was not able to provide a significant description of the incident or the suspect.
