A woman who was crossing a street near the intersection of Curtner Avenue and Briarwood Drive in San Jose was struck and killed by a older model SUV on Friday night, according to police.
Police said the collision took place near Willow Glen around 6:53 p.m. The woman who was struck and killed was crossing from the south side of Curtner Avenue to the north side of the street.
A woman who was driving a 1998 Ford Explorer hit the woman. The struck woman was later pronounced dead.
San Jose police said this is the 34th fatal collision of the year and the 15th vehicle vs. pedestrian death. The victim is the 36th death in fatal collisions this year.
