Paving machine runs over person on Bethel Island

At least one person was seriously injured when they were run over by a paving machine at a work site at Bethel Island in unincorporated Contra Costa County on Monday afternoon, according to East Contra Costa Fire Protection District officials.
According to fire officials, emergency crews arrived at the scene in the 3900 block of Willow Road around 4:45 p.m. Monday to find the person on the ground. The workers reportedly told fire crews that the person was run over and then backed over to free them from underneath the machine.
The victim was flown to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek with possible internal injuries. The person was not identified.
