A man, a woman and a dog died in a head-on crash Sunday morning in Petaluma, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened at about 10:25 a.m. when a Ford van driven by the woman was traveling on Bodega Avenue and crossed the center line, CHP Sgt. Allan Capurro said.
The van crashed into a GMC pickup truck headed in the opposite direction, killing the drivers of both vehicles, Capurro said.
The victims’ names are not released pending notification of their next of kin.
There were no other people in the two vehicles. Two dogs were riding in the van, and one died in the crash, Capurro said.
The CHP is investigating the crash, which occurred just west of Petaluma. Drugs and alcohol don’t appear to be factors and there were no signs of excessive speed or erratic driving, according to Capurro.
