60-year-old pedestrian left with life-threatening injuries after hit-and-run

San Francisco police are asking for help finding the driver of a vehicle who left the scene of a Wednesday night collision that left a pedestrian with life-threatening injuries, police said Thursday.

At 9:11 p.m. officers responded to the collision at Oak and Baker streets where a 60-year-old San Francisco man had been struck.

The man was taken to a hospital where he remains in life-threatening condition.

Police said investigators have determined that the driver of a black or dark blue Toyota Prius ran a red light while driving east on Oak Street at Baker Street.

Police said the Toyota hit the man who was in a crosswalk while crossing Oak Street from the southeast corner to the northeast corner.

The driver of the Toyota stopped and got out of the car briefly after the collision but got back in and allegedly drove east on Oak Street to southbound Broderick Street.

Police said the Toyota likely sustained damage to its front end.

Investigators are asking the driver of the Toyota to call them on the Police Department’s 24-hour tip line at (415) 575-4444.

Police are asking nearby residents and business owners to check their surveillance cameras for footage of the collision.

Anyone who sees a black or dark blue Prius with front-end damage or anyone with information about the collision is asked to call the 24-hour tip line or text a tip to TIP411 and start the message with “SFPD.” Anyone providing a tip can remain anonymous.
