A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and hit-and-run after fleeing from an initial crash and then hitting a parked car in Salinas on Monday morning, police said.
Officers responded to the area of East Market Street and Carr Avenue at 9:49 a.m. Monday after people reported they were following the suspect vehicle, which then hit the parked car at Parkway Road and Eucalyptus Drive.
Officers arrived and found Florencio Maldonado, who showed obvious signs of intoxication and did not have a driver’s license, according to police.
He was arrested and officers determined his blood-alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit, police said.
People in the initial car hit by Maldonado complained of pain to their neck and back, according to police.
