San Rafael police arrested a man on suspicion of trying to rob a woman’s purse and for elder abuse earlier this month.
An 81-year-old woman was walking into Country Club Bowl at 88 Vivian St. around 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 8 when a male tried to grab her purse, Sgt. Lisa Holton said.
The woman was injured when she fell backward on the stairs and landed on her back, but the suspect fled without the purse, Holton said.
Officers reviewed surveillance camera video from a nearby business of the robbery attempt and interviewed witnesses. They identified the suspect as Camilo Abel Arias Marroquin, 22, of San Rafael, Holton said.
Marroquin was arrested Wednesday and booked in the Marin County Jail under $50,000 bail for attempted robbery and elder abuse, Holton said.
