Police in Piedmont on Thursday arrested a man in connection with several crimes including possession of a false bomb.
Pablo Jesus Guardado, 36, of Oakland, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a false bomb, obstructing an officer, possession of a switchblade knife, carrying a concealed weapon and probation violation.
Officers with the Piedmont Police Department responded Thursday at approximately 8:30 a.m. to a report of a suspicious person in the area of Wildwood and Winsor avenues.
Police located a man, later identified as Guardado, who was in possession of an unloaded firearm, two switchblade knives and what appeared to be an explosive device.
The Piedmont Police Department requested assistance from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office to determine what the device was and to render is safe.
After further investigation, it was determined the device did not contain any explosive material.
Guardado was arrested without incident.
Wildwood Elementary School was briefly placed on lockdown due to the incident.
