Antioch man arrested in connection with Portola District robbery spree

Police in San Francisco have arrested a suspect in connection with several recent armed robberies in the city’s Portola District.

Michael Crayton, 29, of Antioch, was arrested Sept. 14 on suspicion of five counts of robbery, two counts of battery with serious injuries and one count of aggravated assault, according to the San Francisco Police Department.

Police said Crayton approached women walking by themselves and used force when committing the robberies.

Police have linked him to robberies that occurred on Sept. 5 on Bacon and Hamilton streets, Sept. 7 in the 500 block of Holyoke Street, Sept. 9 on Bacon and University streets and Sept. 10 on Woolsey and Girard streets.

Following Crayton’s arrest, police served search warrants for his residence in Antioch and for his vehicle and discovered evidence linking him to an unreported robbery that occurred on Sept. 11, police said.
