Marin Co. fire evacuation lifted

Marin County fire officials expect that containment will grow Tuesday night on the Irving Fire in and near Samuel P. Taylor State Park where all evacuation orders have been lifted.

As of 5:01 p.m., all evacuation orders had been lifted and all roads had reopened as firefighters walk the fire’s perimeter to do an assessment.

Marin County Fire Department spokeswoman Laine Hendricks said this evening that the current size estimate is 115 acres and 35 percent of the fire is contained.

No one has been injured and no structures have been damaged, Hendricks said.

Redwood trees in the area were also spared, she said.

According to Hendricks, 54 homes are without power, but PG&E may have power restored as soon as 7 or 8 p.m.

A shelter was opened Monday night at the San Geronimo Valley Community Center where 10 people stayed overnight.

Hendricks said the shelter will probably not be open tonight.

Fire officials initially said the shelter was at Lagunitas Elementary School.
