Just after midnight, a man walking near 19th and Mission streets felt someone put their hand on them, police said.
When the victim turned around, a suspect punched him with brass knuckles. The victim, a 48-year-old man, then discovered that his cellphone and credit cards were missing.
The victim was taken to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, according to police.
Officers were unable to locate the suspect, described by police as a man in his mid 20s.
