One dead in San Leandro head-on collision
A driver of a vehicle died in a fatal head-on collision late Monday night in San Leandro, police said Tuesday.

A driver of a vehicle died in a fatal head-on collision late Monday night in San Leandro, police said Tuesday.
Officers were sent at 10:55 p.m. to an injury auto collision in the 1000 block of San Leandro Boulevard where they found two vehicles had collided.
Police said the drivers of both vehicles suffered extensive injuries.
Firefighters and paramedics extracted both drivers and each was taken to a hospital where one died.
The Alameda County coroner is not releasing the name of the person who died until the family is notified. Police extended their condolences to the family of the man who died.
Police spokesman Lt. Isaac Benabou said in a statement:
“This appears to be a head-on collision as we believe both vehicles were traveling on San Leandro Boulevard, one in each direction.”
Police said the injuries to the other driver did not appear to be life-threatening.
Officers hope to understand soon what caused the collision.
