Body found in East Oakland

The body of a woman was found in a high-crime area in East Oakland Thursday morning, police said.

At about 9:15 a.m. a caller reported that there was a body in the 7700 block of Krause Avenue, near Arroyo Viejo Creek and the Arroyo Viejo Recreation Center, according to police.

Oakland police and firefighters responded to the scene, and the woman was pronounced dead, police said. Alameda County coroner’s personnel took custody of the woman’s body, according to police.

No additional information had been released as of 6 p.m.
