Victim in Mission fatal shooting identified

A man killed early this morning in a shooting in San Francisco’s Mission District has been identified as 33-year-old Carlos Chan-Cocom of San Francisco, the city’s medical examiner’s office said.

Chan-Cocom was pronounced dead at the scene, following the 2:32 a.m. shooting in the 2700 block of Harrison Street, according to police.

Officers learned of the shooting from a ShotSpotter activation and after responding found Chan-Cocom as well as an injured 32-year-old man. That victim was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

No arrests have been made as of this morning and descriptions of the suspects were not immediately available.

The shooting is under investigation and police are asking anyone with relevant information to call the anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444.
