Man suspected of killing wife found dead

A husband suspected of shooting his wife to death earlier this month in San Francisco was found dead Wednesday, police said Thursday.

Robert Riley, 43, appears to have shot himself to death at a home in the 10000 block of Janet Road in the unincorporated San Joaquin County community of French Camp.

On June 7 officers went to the 4500 block of Mission Street in San Francisco after someone told them of a shooting that occurred at around 11:30 a.m., according to police.

Riley allegedly shot his wife, 34-year-old South San Francisco woman Vanessa Palma, and then left the area before officers arrived.

Palma was taken to a hospital where she died.

Wednesday, deputies with the San Joaquin Sheriff’s Office received information that a suspect wanted for killing his wife in San Francisco might be living in French Camp.

Police said Riley was the only suspect in the slaying of his wife.
