Girl on bicycle hurt in Palo Alto collision

A girl suffered “very serious” injuries when a vehicle hit her as she was riding a bicycle Monday morning in Palo Alto, police said.

The collision was reported at 11:07 a.m. at 3703 El Camino Real near Barron Avenue.

Police said the girl was conscious and breathing when officers got to her and she was able to communicate with them somewhat, Agent Marianna Villaescusa said.

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.

“The driver of the vehicle is being extremely cooperative,” Villaescusa said.

Neither drugs nor alcohol appear to have played a role in the collision. Only the girl was injured.

Villaescusa said the girl was immediately taken to a hospital. Police towed the vehicle for evidence.

Villaescusa said she didn’t know what caused the collision.
