Pacifica burglars target unlocked vehicles

Pacifica police are advising residents to lock vehicle doors after 30 residents reported having their vehicles burglarized early Sunday morning.

Police said an officer responded to a report of discarded property around 7 a.m. Sunday in the 300 block of Reichling Avenue and identified it as being connected to other auto burglaries in the South Bay and Santa Cruz areas.

A neighborhood check determined that the 30 residents in the immediate area had their vehicles burglarized between 12:30 a.m. and 2 a.m. Sunday.

The burglaries are under investigation. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Pacifica police at (650) 738-7314. Those wishing to submit tips anonymously can call (650) 359-4444.

Police advise residents to lock car doors and to not leave valuable items in their vehicles to avoid crimes of opportunity.
