Incumbents have prevailed in two contested races on Tuesday’s ballot in San Mateo County, with Sheriff Carlos Bolanos and District 3 Supervisor Don Horsley ahead in their respective races, according to unofficial election results.
Bolanos was ahead of Deputy Mark Melville, who has been with the sheriff’s office since 2008, with 59 percent of the vote compared to 41 for Melville as of early Wednesday morning.
The county’s District 3, which includes Atherton, Half Moon Bay, Pacifica, San Carlos, Woodside, Portola Valley, parts of Belmont and Menlo Park and other neighborhoods, will still be represented by Horsley, who has been elected to his third four-year term.
Dan Stegink, a Pacifica planning commissioner and software developer, received just 24 percent of the vote compared to 76 percent for Horsley, according to the unofficial results as of midnight.
District Attorney Stephen Wagstaffe, Coroner Robert Foucrault, and Controller Juan Raigoza all strolled to uncontested wins.
