The Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA is seeking someone to adopt Vivienne, a little pig found in South San Francisco in May.
Vivienne, a little pig found in South San Francisco in May, didn’t go to market and most certainly didn’t stay home, so the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA is seeking someone to adopt her.
A kind citizen found the pig at the intersection of El Camino Real and Spruce Avenue May 20 and brought the 24-pound pig to the shelter. She is now up for adoption.
“How this little pig came to be roaming the streets in South San Francisco is a complete mystery to us,” said Buffy Martin Tarbox, a spokeswoman for the San Mateo shelter.
She was christened “Vivienne” by shelter staff.
The petite porcine’s age is unknown, but at 24 pounds she is likely to continue to grow – something potential adopters should take into consideration, Tarbox said.
Pigs live around 12-18 years and live on pig pellets, vegetables and alfalfa hay. As anyone who has witnessed a pig race at a county fair already knows, they are also very smart.
According to the Humane Society of the United States, pigs are “brainier than dogs or three-year-old children.” The Humane Society had no editorial comments as to which had the best disposition.”
