A roadway in Petaluma reopened several hours after two people died in a plane crash near Petaluma Airport Sunday afternoon.
The crash happened just east of the airport shortly after 4 p.m. in the area of E. Washington Street between Adobe Road and Executive Drive.
The small, single-engine plane had two people onboard and both suffered fatal injuries. The victim’s identities have not yet been released.
The cause of the crash is currently unknown, according to Petaluma fire officials, but the Federal Aviation Administration conducting an investigation.
The roadway was closed at 4:32 p.m. and reopened at 9:43 p.m.
