Healdsburg man arrested for DUI, child endangerment

A Healdsburg man was arrested Saturday afternoon in Santa Rosa on suspicion of DUI and child endangerment, officials with California Highway Patrol said.

A CHP officer saw the driver of a Buick SUV open the vehicle’s door and empty a bottle of beer on the road around 4 p.m. on Steele Lane at Illinois Avenue, CHP Officer Jon Sloat said.

The officer spoke with the driver, Alejandro Gonzalez, 24, and noticed signs of intoxication, Sloat said.

Two children, 12 and 13 year old, were allegedly in the Buick and the officer notified Child Protective Services.

Gonzalez has three prior DUI convictions in the past 10 years, is unlicensed and is currently on probation, Sloat said.

Gonzalez was booked in the county jail for among other offenses, DUI, felony child endangerment and driving without an ignition interlock device, Sloat said.
