A San Leandro High School student will represent the 13th Congressional District in the 2018 Congressional Arts Competition, Rep. Barbara Lee’s office said on Friday.
Janet Nguyen, a senior, was selected as the winner of the district competition for her painting titled “The Gaze” during a reception to honor all the entrants in Alameda County.
In a statement Lee said:
“Our East Bay student-artists raise the bar of artistic excellence each year.”
One of the other entrants, Elyse Cypher of Bishop O’Dowd High, won a competition on Lee’s Facebook page and will have her painting, “Unexpected Snow”, hung at Lee’s office for one year.
