A woman in her eighties was hit and killed by a car as she crossed the street in Palo Alto Saturday night, police said.
The woman was trying to cross East Charleston Road in a northbound direction in the area of the 400 block around 8:39 p.m. when she was struck, according to a preliminary investigation, according to police.
The woman wasn’t in a crosswalk, according to police. She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The woman was hit by a westbound red 1985 Toyota pickup truck driven by a Palo Alto woman in her twenties, police said. The driver wasn’t injured, and she stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers, according to police.
Police don’t think drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision. The driver has not been cited or arrested and the investigation is continuing, police said.
