A suspect who apparently shot two people Thursday afternoon at an apartment complex in Mill Valley is dead, sheriff’s officials said.
As of 5:50 p.m. tactical teams had entered an apartment where the suspect was and found him dead, sheriff’s Sgt. Brenton Schneider said.
The suspect has only been described as an 80-year-old man, about 5 feet 5 inches tall and wearing a white shirt.
Schneider said sheriff’s officials believe no threat to the public exists anymore and a shelter-in-place order has been lifted.
The shelter-in-place perimeter was East Blithedale Avenue west to Meadow Drive then north to Lomita Drive and from Meadow Drive east to U.S. Highway 101.
Sheriff’s officials alerted the public about the initial shooting at about 3:40 p.m. The scene was an apartment complex in the 900 block of East Blithedale Avenue, near Tower Drive, just off of Highway 101.
