Hayward BART reopens after shooting

The Hayward Station re-opened early Thursday after a shooting at the station on Wednesday evening closed it, forcing trains to pass through for a few hours, according to the transportation agency.

As of 12:30 a.m., at least two more trains had scheduled stops before the service closes, with trains operating again around 4 a.m.

On Wednesday evening, a suspect was arrested after allegedly shooting at a police officer this evening in the area of the Hayward BART station, BART officials and Hayward police said.

Reports of shots fired came in at 7:28 p.m. Wednesday in the area of the station at 699 B St.

The station was closed, though trains are running through the station. A bus bridge has been set up to get passengers around Hayward station.

No injuries have been reported and no threat to public safety exists, according to police and BART officials.
