Mt. Tam hiker rescued after rattlesnake bites

A hiker was bitten multiple times by a rattlesnake while visiting Mt. Tamalpais on Sunday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP said its H-30 helicopter responded to the scene around 2:15 p.m. on Sunday. The Marin County Fire Department then arrived on the scene and found the hiker with multiple rattlesnake bites.

The CHP helicopter took the hiker to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek and the patient was in stable condition as of 5 p.m. Sunday, according to the CHP.

Law enforcement officials said to be zcareful while hiking on trails in warm weather, as snakes are more prevalent.
