A 14-year-old Watsonville juvenile male was arrested on suspicion of threatening via a social media post to shoot an 18-year-old male at Freedom Alternative School on Monday, according to Watsonville police.
Police said the school, which is run by the Santa Cruz County Probation Department, received second-hand information from a student regarding the suspect, whose name won’t be released due to his age.
He allegedly threatened the victim on social media on Monday. Police did not say if the victim is a fellow student at the school.
According to police, Watsonville police officers and Santa Cruz County sheriff’s deputies arrived to the suspect’s home and arrested him without incident.
Police said the suspect, who was already on probation for a separate firearms offense, was found to have a loaded, 9mm handgun lying on his bed. That firearm was reported stolen from Stockton more than 10 years ago, police said.
The juvenile has been booked into Juvenile Hall.
