Man arrested after stealing guns, issuing threat

A transient man who stole firearms from a home in San Jose and left a threatening note before fleeing on Wednesday has been taken into custody by the San Francisco Police Department, according to a tweet this morning.

Dustin Hamilton, 44, was arrested with no incident following a tip from a community member, police said on their Twitter account shortly after 7 a.m.

A manhunt ensued after the San Jose Police Department responded to a report of a burglary in the 1600 block of Husted Avenue at 10:14 p.m. Wednesday.

Police spokespeople said that upon arrival, they were informed that the man had stolen firearms from the home and left a note threatening to kill people and cops in San Francisco.

San Jose police issued a call to action Thursday after obtaining a felony arrest warrant for Hamilton in addition to two outstanding warrants he had for charges of assault and vandalism in San Francisco.

Two firearms were recovered, according to police.
