Facebook CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg will testify in front of Congress next week, the House Energy and Commerce Committee announced in a statement early Wednesday morning.
Zuckerberg is scheduled to testify at 10 a.m. Eastern time on April 11 after weeks of news regarding Facebook’s alleged willingness to share user data with advertisers and other third-party applications. The committee said in a statement that he will be testifying about the company’s use and protection of user data.
Committee chairman Frank Pallone Jr., D-New Jersey, and Greg Walden, R-Oregon, said in a joint statement:
“This hearing will be an important opportunity to shed light on critical consumer data privacy issues and help all Americans better understand what happens to their personal information online.”
