A San Francisco woman on a motorcycle was killed when she was struck by two vehicles on southbound U.S. Highway 101 near Tiburon on Monday night, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The Marin County coroner’s office identified her as 29-year-old Marie Noelle Sigenthaler.
Sigenthaler was riding south on the highway north of Tiburon Boulevard around 10 p.m. when she was struck from behind by a vehicle in the No. 2 lane and was ejected onto the No. 1 lane, CHP Officer Andrew Barclay said.
Sigenthaler then was struck by a Volkswagen Tiguan and died at the scene. The driver of the Volkswagen stopped, Barclay said.
A witness said a silver Toyota Prius hit the motorcycle first and fled the scene, but that is still under investigation, Barclay said.
The collision closed the three left lanes until just after 1 a.m. Tuesday, Barclay said. Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call the Marin CHP at (415) 924-1100.
