A San Francisco police officer and five other people suffered gunshot wounds Wednesday afternoon in the Outer Mission and one is in critical condition, police said.
Initial information from police indicated the shooting was on the edge of the Crocker Amazon neighborhood.
Police Chief William Scott said officers responded at about 4:30 p.m. to the 200 block of Amazon Avenue after police learned a man had a gun.
Officers confronted several people inside a business on the corner of Geneva Avenue and London Street and gunfire was exchanged, injuring the six, including the suspect.
Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital spokesman Brent Andrew said the police officer is in fair condition.
A minor was shot. Andrew said hospital officials are not releasing the minor’s condition.
One of the other four shooting victims is in critical condition, one is in serious condition and two are in fair condition, Andrew said. The four are men between 24 and 48 years old.
Scott asked anyone with information about the shooting to call the Police Department’s 24-hour tip line at (415) 575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 and start the message with SFPD.
Anyone who provides a tip can remain anonymous.
Scott said police will hold a townhall meeting within 10 days to provide information on the shooting.
