Police said officers responded at about 2:15 a.m. to the 100 block of Sixth Street on a report of a fire at a building and found a man dead inside.
The man’s name is not yet being released by the San Francisco medical examiner’s office.
An employee answering the phone at Liberty Books, also known as Don’s of Sixth Street, at 111 Sixth St. confirmed the fire happened at the business.
The store remains open Monday, the employee said.
San Francisco fire officials said the blaze caused moderate damage but no one was displaced. The fire remains under investigation.
