An Oakland Raiders player was allegedly involved in a domestic violence offense Saturday night in San Francisco and police are asking him to call them, police said Sunday.
Outside linebacker Aldon Smith, 28, of Oakland, is being asked to call police so they can interview him about an alleged offense at a home in the 600 block of Bush Street sometime before police went to the home at 8:30 p.m.
Police said the victim suffered injuries not considered life-threatening. Smith allegedly left the home before officers arrived.
Smith was suspended in 2015 by the National Football League, the result of an arrest involving alcohol. He had previously served a nine-game suspension at the start of the 2014 season stemming from his troubled past, which includes an arrest for an alleged bomb threat at LAX, as well as charges for possession of illegal weapons on top of his other three DUI charges.
Smith signed with the Raiders shortly after being released by the 49ers in 2015. He recorded 3-1/2 sacks with the Raiders and a team-high eight quarterback hits. He was under contract but has not played for Oakland in the 2016 or 2017 seasons.
