At 3:40 p.m., Fairfield police officers and Solano County sheriff’s deputies tried to stop a pedestrian on Crowley Lane near Pennsylvania Avenue.
During the stop, the suspect was shot. The scene of the shooting was closed and the man received medical assistance before being taken to a trauma center where he is in critical condition, police said.
By 10 p.m. Wednesday, investigators had finished processing the scene and Crowley Lane reopened to traffic.
Police did not provide further details about the suspect, his injury, or the circumstances surrounding the shooting. They also did not say whether he was shot by a Fairfield police officer, a sheriff’s deputy or both.
Fairfield police, the Solano County Sheriff’s Office and the Solano County District Attorney’s Office are investigating this case.
