‘No suspects’ in SF State dorm death

An investigation is underway into the death of a San Francisco man found unresponsive earlier this month in a campus residence hall at San Francisco State University, university police said Tuesday.

On Feb. 6, someone notified police at 10:18 p.m. about 24-year-old Nickie Young, who was reportedly unresponsive at Mary Ward Hall.

Police Chief Jason Wu said officers went to the residence hall to do a welfare check and found Young unresponsive.

Young was not a student at the university and police believe he was visiting the campus as a guest, Wu said.

The cause of Young’s death has not been determined yet, according to the San Francisco medical examiner’s office.

Wu would not confirm whether Young’s death is being investigated as a homicide, saying however, that “currently there are no suspects” and the case remains under investigation.
