Two firefighters hurt in Third Street fire

A victim and two firefighters were injured in a one-alarm fire at a commercial building early Wednesday morning in San Francisco.

At 2:53 a.m., fire officials received a report of the blaze at a single-story commercial building at 5201 Third St.

Firefighters arrived in five minutes and found heavy black smoke and flames in the building. The fire was under control at 3:38 a.m.

Fire crews rescued a man from the fire and he received immediate life-saving care from paramedics. He was then taken to a hospital in serious condition, fire officials said.

Two firefighters suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.

One of the firefighters received treatment at the scene, while the other was taken to a hospital, fire officials said.

The 5200 block of Third Street was closed for more than two hours while crews cleared the scene.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation, fire officials said.
