Part of HWY 1 closed after car goes down embankment

State Highway 1 closed Tuesday morning between La Honda Road and Pescadero Creek Road south of Half Moon Bay in San Mateo County due to a vehicle that crashed Monday night, according to California Highway Patrol officials.

The crash was first reported at 10:46 p.m. Monday and involved a vehicle that went 100 feet off an embankment and is hanging precariously off a cliff, CHP officials said.

CHP officials and fire crews have responded to the scene.
