A Recology worker died in an accident at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital on Friday morning, according to police.
The San Francisco medical examiner’s office has identified 42-year-old Jeremy Gordon as the worker who died in the accident reported at about 6 a.m. Friday near Potrero Avenue and 22nd Street.
Recology spokesman Robert Reed said Gordon died while delivering a garbage compactor to the hospital. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
Gordon had worked as a driver since 1994 and was a second-generation employee for Recology, which provides waste disposal services for San Francisco.
Reed said:
“He will be remembered by all of us as a genuinely nice person who always had a good word. … Our hearts go out to his family and his fellow employee-owners across all the Recology companies.”
Reed said Recology is cooperating in the investigations into the death by San Francisco police and the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health.
