No shelter-in-place for Richmond refinery flare

 

Chevron was reporting flaring at their refinery in Richmond Thursday morning, but company officials say there’s no need to shelter in place.

The energy company wrote on Twitter around 8:45 a.m. that the flaring process a “highly regulated” safety measure that is monitored by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District.

Twitter account @ChevronRichmond said:

“This is an isolated incident and the refinery continues to operate.”

The refinery is located at 525 Castro St. in Richmond.
