A man was shot by one of three suspects early this afternoon in San Jose as he was washing his vehicle near Berryessa Creek Park, police said.
Officers responded at 12:42 p.m. after multiple people called and said shots had been fired in the 1900 block of Messina Drive.
The victim also called police to tell them he had been shot.
Police said when officers talked to the victim he told them he was washing his vehicle when three men in black clothing approached him and one of the men shot him.
The suspects ran away after the shooting and are at large.
Police said the victim was taken to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.
Police described the suspects as men in their 20s wearing black clothing and black hooded sweatshirts.
The motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting are under investigation.
