The officer-involved shooting was reported at 3:20 p.m. and occurred in the 800 block of Feller Avenue.
The female suspect suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening. She was taken to a hospital, police said.
No one else was injured and there are no other outstanding suspects in the case, police said.
Further details about the shooting and the suspect were not immediately available.
Police Chief Eddie Garcia will provide a statement Tuesday about the shooting. He will address the media at 2 p.m. at the San Jose Police Department at 201 W. Mission St. in room 314.
