Hoda Nasar, a San Francisco resident, was found dead in the 300 block of Randolph Street around 10:30 p.m.
Police released few details about the incident but indicated she was deceased at the scene and said they had arrested a 32-year-old man.
Police did not immediately release the suspect’s identity.
However, jail records indicate that police arrested 32-year-old Islam Moustafa on suspicion of murder the next morning and booked him into San Francisco jail, where he is being held without bail.
Moustafa has been charged with murder with an allegation for use of a deadly weapon and assault with a deadly weapon, and is expected to be arraigned tomorrow, according to court records.
Nasar and Moustafa are both listed as plaintiffs on a lawsuit filed in June 2015 by them and other tenants in a building at 333 Randolph Street.
The lawsuit, which alleges that the property owners rented out illegal units, failed to maintain and repair the property and operated an illegal gambling den in the basement, says the two lived in a unit there with Duaa Moustafa, Hoda’s daughter and Islam’s sister.
That lawsuit was settled in December of 2016.
Nasar’s stabbing was one of six police responded to this weekend in San Francisco, two of which involved life-threatening injuries.
Nasar’s death is also one of three homicides reported so far this year and the second fatal stabbing.
The first occurred on Thursday when 59-year-old Mark Camacho died following a stabbing at 8:11 p.m. in the 1200 block of Potrero Avenue near Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital.
Police arrested 48-year-old Jesus Ramirez in Camacho’s death on Friday and he has since been charged with murder with an allegation of use of a deadly weapon. Ramirez remains in custody.
