A 72-year-old inmate died this morning after being found unresponsive in his cell at the Elmwood Correctional Facility in Milpitas, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office.
The man, who had been in custody since Monday on suspicion of 10 counts of sexual intercourse with a minor, received emergency first aid and CPR as soon as he was found unresponsive. However, he could not be resuscitated, sheriff’s officials said.
He was pronounced deceased at 8:36 a.m., according to the sheriff’s office.
The man’s identity is not being released until his family is notified of his death, sheriff’s officials said.
