Northbound Caltrain strikes empty car

An unoccupied vehicle was struck by a commuter train in Burlingame Wednesday morning, according to a Caltrain spokesman.

Northbound train No. 255 struck the vehicle at Broadway just before 8:45 a.m. No injuries have been reported but trains are single-tracking through the area.

Northbound trains have been delayed by 10 to 40 minutes, though they were already subject to a 10-minute delay this morning due to a mechanical issue, Caltrain officials said.

Southbound trains have been delayed by up to 15 minutes, as of 9:35 a.m.
