Driver hurt, passenger killed in Vallejo crash

A 23-year-old man died and a 22-year-old man suffered major injuries following a collision in Vallejo Thursday evening, according to police.

At about 5:20 p.m., officers responded to a report of a collision involving multiple vehicles in the 500 block of Sonoma Boulevard, police said.

There, they found two vehicles that collided and also struck parked cars.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a black 2002 Honda Accord driven by the 22-year-old, lost control in the northbound lanes, crossed a double-yellow line and collided with a 2018 Dodge Challenger heading south. The two vehicles then struck two cars parked along the curb, according to police.

The 23-year-old victim, a passenger in the Honda Accord, sustained severe injuries. He was given treatment, however, he died at the scene.

The Honda’s driver was taken to a hospital with major injuries.

The driver of the Dodge Challenger, a 23-year-old old Vallejo man, suffered minor injuries and also taken to a hospital.

The fatal vehicle collision marks the first this year in Vallejo, police said.
