Vallejo police arrested a driver after he allegedly struck and injured a pedestrian during a pursuit Saturday afternoon.

At 2:26 p.m., officers responded to a report of a collision at the intersection of Tennessee and Tuolumne streets.

According to police, Solano County sheriff’s deputies had been pursuing a black Mercedes-Benz driven by a 31-year-old man from Vallejo.

The suspect entered the intersection at Tennessee and Tuolumne streets on the wrong side of the double yellow lines and against a red light, police said.

The suspect continued driving and struck a southbound pickup truck, as well as a 56-year-old man who was crossing northbound in the west sidewalk. The suspect continued driving west and struck another vehicle, causing it to collide with a third vehicle, police said.

The suspect then fled the Mercedes on foot, but he was apprehended a short time later, police said. He was arrested on suspicion of multiple crimes.

According to police, the pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries in the collision and was taken to a hospital. No other injuries were reported.

Police also said they found a firearm inside the Mercedes.

The collision remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Waylon Boyce at (707) 648-4013 and refer to case no. 17-16417.
