At about 10:30 p.m., a preliminary magnitude 3.8 earthquake struck about 5 miles from San Jose’s Alum Rock neighborhood.
Earlier this evening, a preliminary magnitude 3.1 earthquake was reported around 7:20 p.m. That earthquake struck about 5.6 miles from San Martin and 7.5 miles from Morgan Hill, USGS officials said.
