Nine injured as Muni vehicles collide

Eight people have been hospitalized following a collision on San Francisco’s Market Street involving two Municipal Railway vehicles this afternoon, according to a Muni spokesman.

Market Street is closed between Eighth and Ninth streets after a historic streetcar on the F-Market & Wharves line apparently rear-ended a 6-Haight/Parnassus bus at Eighth and Market streets shortly before 2 p.m., according to Muni spokesman Paul Rose.

Eight patients were transported to hospitals and a ninth was treated at the scene, Rose said.

However, fire officials have said none of the injuries are life-threatening.

Those injured appeared to all be passengers on the two Muni vehicles, Rose said.

Buses are being rerouted around the area and Muni officials are urging passengers to use subway service rather than surface lines. The F line is turning back inbound at 11th Street and outbound at the Ferry Building.
