Seven of eight teenagers suffered major injuries in a crash late Saturday night on state Highway 92 in San Mateo, California Highway Patrol officials said.
Someone called the CHP at 11:38 p.m. to report an overturned vehicle on Highway 92 at De Anza Boulevard.
CHP officials said it appears that a 1997 Toyota 4Runner was traveling east on Highway 92 when the driver lost control of the SUV and it overturned.
Three of the teens were ejected from the vehicle because they were not wearing a seatbelt, including one riding in the rear cargo area of the Toyota.
All eight youths were taken to Stanford Hospital. The driver suffered minor injuries.
CHP officials said it appears alcohol and drugs played no part in the crash. Any witnesses to the crash are asked to call Officer Anthony Wheeler at (650) 369-6261.
