A Richmond police motorcycle officer was injured in a collision with another vehicle on westbound Interstate Highway 80 Tuesday morning, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.
The crash was reported shortly before 8 a.m. on westbound Highway 80 near the Solano Avenue on-ramp in Richmond.
A Mercedes-Benz collided with the officer in the far left lane of the highway, CHP Officer Matthew Hamer said.
The officer was taken to a hospital for precautionary reasons after suffering injuries not considered life-threatening, according to Hamer.
The Mercedes driver stopped at the scene and is cooperating with officers, Hamer said.
The two left lanes of the highway were shut down as a result of the crash. The lanes reopened as of shortly after 8:35 a.m., according to the CHP.
